Details

Oxilight Inc is seeking innovative solutions for the ergonomic and appealing mechanical design of a new medical device aimed at improving patient care in bedside settings. The current challenge is to create a design that is both user-friendly and efficient, ensuring ease of use in resource-limited settings. The project will focus on integrating industrial design principles with mechanical functionality to enhance the device's usability and aesthetic appeal. The goal is to develop a prototype that balances form and function, taking into account factors such as weight, size, and material selection. Learners will apply their classroom knowledge in industrial and mechanical design to address these challenges, ensuring the device meets industry standards and user needs.

Deliverables

The project deliverables will include sketches of the industrial design of the proposed medical device. Once the design is approved, a 3D model and drawings need to be created. The report should outline the design process, material choices, and ergonomic considerations. Additionally, a presentation will be required to demonstrate the design's functionality and user benefits. The deliverables should reflect a comprehensive understanding of industrial and mechanical design principles, showcasing the team's ability to create a practical and innovative solution.
